A Morkie, originally called the Yorktese and also known as a Maltkie, is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Yorkie and the Maltese breeds.

A Morkie will usually have a coat that is very soft, with the color range depending on the coloring of the parents. Like the Yorkie and Maltese, the Morkie has hair, not fur, and sheds very little. They are also considered hypoalergenic like their parent breeds.

Many Morkies are apricot, white, brown and most common black and tan, which in later life fades to a silver grayish color. Since both parent breeds are small breed dogs, Morkies are also usually small as well. The actual coat of a Morkie will usually be long and flowing. The ears may take after either breed and be dropped like a Maltese or erect like a Yorkie.

The Morkie is prone to taking on personality traits from either parent breed or from both. Their size ranges from 8 to 12 inches tall and they weight between 3 to 10 pounds.
